Boss Wins “Best Appetizer” for 4th Straight Year

Jim-4-peat-blog-pic-v2Around this time last year you may have read a blog post congratulating our Certified Advertologist™ (and undisputed ADwërks Top Chef) Jim Mathis on his third consecutive “Best Appetizer” win at the Gourmet Guys food event here in Sioux Falls.

Well Gourmet Guys took place once again last night, and we’re proud to announce that the boss man was awarded his FOURTH STRAIGHT “Best Appetizer” gold medal at the event. Serving up a delicious “Kiss My Ads Goat Cheese Popper” masterpiece–the recipe for which we’re sharing over on the ADwërks website(just click on the newspaper in the “Machine” drawer)–Jim and his trusty kitchen sidekick Craig Ellerbroek tantalized the taste buds of the Gourmet Guys crowd with the tangy, zesty flavor of pickled peppers stuffed with goat cheese and topped off with Jim’s “secret sauce” (don’t worry, the not-so-secret secret for that is also shared on the ADwërks site).

All in all, the ADwërks team is proud of Jim and Craig and we want to congratulate them on the Gourmet Guys dynasty they’ve built over the past four years. Great job, fellas. We suggest a celebration at the office that combines your excellent cooking with our excellent appetites. We can’t wait.

ADwërks Boss Brings Back Bling

Hey, Mike B. here. Just wanted to share some exciting news with you. Our highly esteemed and multi-talented Certified Advertologis, Jim Mathis, brought home some gold for the ADwërks team this past weekend.

No, it wasn’t some random marketing or advertising award (this time) and no, it wasn’t some new bling for the rest of us ADwërkers to wear around (at least not that kind). What Jim actually brought home was the 1st place medal for Best Appetizer at the Gourmet Guys fundraiser this past Sunday.

The Center for Active Generations has hosted Gourmet Guys since 2002. Men work with friends and family to cook dishes that serve between 700-800 people in order to raise money for the Center. The money is then used to deliver meals to the homebound elderly, give caregivers some much-needed breaks, and offer exercise opportunities to seniors.

Jim has now represented the ADwërks standard of excellence at Gourmet Guys by winning the 1st place prize three years in a row. He and his assistant, Craig Ellerbroek,  whipped up a delicious Italian sushi dish made up of…well it tasted like… ok, maybe Jim should just describe it:

“Makizushi Italiano (or Italian Sushi) is not as complicated as a it sounds. It’s Alaskan king crab leg, asparagus and risotto wrapped in proscuitto. Then I sear the proscuitto to get it just a little crispy. Then I slice and serve the roll with two sauces; a roasted red pepper sauce that’s just a little spicy and a sweet and mild basil pesto sauce.”

Yeah. Doesn’t that sound delicious? Needless to say, the masterpiece impressed the judges and the Gourmet Guys crowd, so we just wanted to congratulate Jim on the achievement and thank Gourmet Guys for the opportunity to create (and enjoy) some delicious food. A good event for a good cause always rocks our world here at ADwërks.

(If you would like to book Jim Mathis to cater your next event, please contact Mike Billeter at 605-357–– oh, nevermind. Jim says I actually have to go do work now…)
